Elsa ROUX CHAMOUX

Elsa Roux Chamoux is a French mezzo-soprano. She is currently a member of the Opera National du Rhin’s Opera Studio. She has studied in the Opera Course at the London Guildhall School of Music and Drama under the guidance of Susan McCulloch. She has already won awards and been a finalist in several national and international competitions: 3rd Prize Mezzo-Soprano category at the José Carreras Grand Prix Competition in Moscow (Russia), Jury Special Prize, OFQJ Prize, Social Network Prize in Opera category at Concours International de Chant de Marmande (France), Finalist in French Melodies category at Concours International de Chant de Marmande, Mady Mesplé Prize at the International Competition Bel Canto Vincenzo Bellini at Vendôme (France), Audience Prize at the Grand Competition Emma Calvé at Meyrueis (France), First Prize less than 22years old at the IX International Competition “Renaissance” at Guymri (Armenia), First Prize at Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod at Llangollen (Wales), First Prize at the “Les Clés d’Or” Competition at Paris (France), Prize of the Best Young Talent at the International Competition Otto Edelman at Vienna (Austria).

She has appeared in various Opera productions, including Rosina in Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Sivilia, Angelina in Rossini’s La Cenerentolina, Hansel in Humperdink’s Hansel und Gretel at the Opera National du Rhin, Dido in Purcell’s Dido & Aeneas, La Regina, La Vecchietta and La Duchessa in Respighi’s La Bella dormente nel bosco, Celia in Haydn’s La Fedelta Premiata at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Ruggiero in Haendel’s Alcina with the Ensemble OrQuesta Opera at Fulham (London, UK), Romeo in Bellini’s I Capuleti e I Montecchi at Goodenough College (London, UK), as well as Zerlina in Mozart's Don Giovanni at Dardilly (Lyon, France), Cherubino in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro. She has performed the role of Sister Edgar in Lliam Paterson’s The Angel Esmeralda which was a commission from the Scottish Opera for the Opera Course of the Guildhall School and was a World Premiere at the end of February 2020.

Elsa has participated to several masterclasses with Adrianne Pieczonka, Malcolm Walker, Christian Immler, Susan Bullock, Stéphane Degout, Stéphanie d’Oustrac, Elaine Kidd, Mathieu Pordoy, David Gowland, Andrea Sanguinetti et Janet Perry. But she does not have only one string to her bow: she also obtained her bachelor's degree in Management in Paris (in e-learning), and practised Rink-Hockey to a high level for more than 14 years in the men's championship. She played for several years in the French women's team, with which she was crowned World Champion in 2012 in Brazil, and Vice-World Champion in 2014 in France. She nevertheless decided to retire in December 2015 to devote herself entirely to opera.

For the 2021-2022 season, she will perform the roles of L’écureil, Le Pâtre, La Chatte and La Bergère in Ravel’s L’Enfant et les Sortilèges and Dinah in Bernstein’s Trouble in Tahiti with the Opera National du Rhin.

David Hong (3. Preis)

David Hong

The bass David Hong was born in South Korea. He began his vocal studies in February 2007 at the Hanyang University with Prof. Seung-Hyun Ko and graduated in 2011. He graduated in July 2016 his Master degree with highest score at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts with Prof. Berthold Possemeyer. From October 2016 he is studying for Konzertexamen of Voice Opera at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts with Prof. Klesie Kelly-Moog. He participated in master classes by Rudolf Piernay, Enza Ferrari and Helmut Deutsch.

Since 2008 David Hong has appeared in several opera productions: 2008 as Leporello in Mozart's "Don Giovanni", 2012 as Dulcamara in Donizetti's "L'elisir d'amore", as Balthazar in Menotti's "Amahl and The night Visitors" in Seoul. In 2014 he was Simone in a university production of "Gianni Schicchi" in Frankfurt and in 2015 Bartolo / Antonio in productions of the Junge Oper Schloss Weikersheim in "Le nozze di Figaro". In 2016 he sang as Sarastro at the Bad Vilbel Castle Festival. He made his debut in 2016 as Silvano in the new production of Cavalli's opera "La Calisto" in the Darmstadt State Theater. David Hong was a scholarship holder of the Deutschen Akademischen Austauschdiensts (DAAD).

David Hong is the winner of the following competitions: "The Music Education News Concours" and "CBS Concours", "Eumak Journal Concours" and "Seoul Arts Music Competition". In 2015 he was a prizewinner at the International Singing Competition "Feruccio Tagliavini" in Austria. In 2016 he was a semifinalist at the Vinas Compeition and in 2019 he was a finalist at the Bologna International Vocal Competition.
